Sacred Gifts
Dear Mater Dei Community,
As we begin a new calendar year, we ask the Lord to shower His blessings upon you, your loved ones, and our entire Mater Dei community. We look forward to the many blessings in store for 2023! In this month’s newsletter, we share about a gift received and the gift of life. We also invite you to spread the word about our upcoming Open House. Thank you for your continued support and may God bless you.

Ad Jesum Per Mariam
Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam
Day-to-Day at Mater Dei
After returning from a well-deserved Christmas break, students and instructors got right to work preparing for midterms to finish out the first semester. With sighs of relief and a sense of accomplishment, semester two is now underway.
On mornings when Mass is not available, Mater Dei students and staff gather together to recite Morning Prayer from the Divine Office. We had been printing off copies of the prayers from the internet each day until recently, a generous Mater Dei supporter gifted us with Shorter Christian Prayer breviaries! This has been such a blessing. And an ink-saver. After a few tutorials on ribbon placement and flipping back and forth, the students are now pros at using the new breviaries.
Service Project
For our January service project, we prepared and assembled freezer meals for three local families in need of extra support right now. Two families, open to the gift of life, just welcomed a new baby into their households of now 9 and 10. Another young family, begging for the gift of life, just received a terminal and inoperable cancer diagnosis for the father. After preparing the meals, we gathered into the Church to pray the rosary for their intentions. Please pray for strength for these families as they endure their varied crosses. May God be glorified in all of the joys and sorrows of this sacred life.
Open House
Our Mater Dei Open House is scheduled for Thursday, February 16th from 7:00-8:30pm. Please invite families you know with incoming 9-12th graders. This is a great chance to tour the school, meet the instructors, and learn about the Mater Dei program. Mater Dei is located in the lower level of Holy Family Church at 2430 W 3rd Street in Duluth. Guests should park in the 2nd Street parking lot to enter into the main Mater Dei entrance. Word of mouth is the best promotion. Thank you for spreading the word!
