FAITH
The propagation of the Catholic faith is at the heart of our apostolate. The faith is lived out and embraced daily through various prayers and practices among the students. We begin each school day with Holy Mass. Individual classes begin and end with prayer. We pray the Angelus together at noon and the Divine Mercy Chaplet at 3:00 to end our day. In addition, the students are given a weekly opportunity for the sacrament of Penance. All Mater Dei students, Catholic and non-Catholic, are expected to act in accordance with Christian principles and show respect and deference for our Catholic faith and traditions.
Mass at Mater Dei
The Eucharist is the source and summit of our Catholic faith. At Mater Dei, we encourage students to attend daily Mass first and foremost to worship our God, truly present in the Eucharist, and to be nourished and strengthened by Him. In addition, attending daily Mass cultivates the habit of giving the first moments of the day to the Lord in silence and true worship. Daily Mass begins each morning at 8:05 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church.
Adoration at Mater Dei
Mater Dei Apostolate is blessed to be housed in the lower level of the beautiful Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Students are encouraged to stop into the church for Adoration as frequently as possible, whether in between classes or for a dedicated holy hour. The transformative time spent in the presence of the Lord, truly present in the Eucharist, is essential for gaining a deeper knowledge of God and His loving will. As high school students navigate the tumultuous waters of teenage life in the modern world, they will learn that true peace is always found at the feet of Jesus.
